Casa Italia, the Italian grocery, deli and wine shop has been a landmark in the community since 1984. More than twenty years later, it continues to please its loyal following with top quality Italian and Mediterranean foods.

The heart of the 3000 sq ft. store is the deli department. Here you will find an extensive range of cheeses from Italy, Spain, France, Denmark, England and Switzerland. Italian favorites include Parmigiano Reggiano, Auricchio provolone, Pecorino Romano, Gorgonzola & Fontina to name but a few. The deli also carries three types of imported prosciutto and a variety of cold cuts. Boneless, skinless salt cod "Baccala" is available throughout the year. Buffalo mozzarella imported from Italy is available, as are fresh and cherry-sized mozzarella.. There is a large selection of speciality olives. Both Raj and Nita are happy to give tastings and advise on selections to suit your palate. The grocery department contains a number of pastas, from frozen to premium brands as well as whole wheat and organic. In the freezer, there is a selection of raviolis stuffed with cheese, eggplant, mushroom or crab & lobster. To go with the pasta there is an extensive variety of sauces. Customers will also find Belgian Callebaut & fine Italian chocolates, canned vegetables, capers and caperberries, caviar, anchovies, tuna, smoked salmon and, a particular favorite, white anchovies. There is an extensive range of extra virgin olive oils and balsamic vinegars. You will also find a 50 year old sherry vinegar from Spain as well as champagne, raspberry and red or white wine vinegars.

For unexpected guests or impromptu dinners there are prepared meals to go. The range of Italian food has been joined by Indian food made by Nita. Since February, Indian cooking classes have started, with the first four sold out within days. The Italian cooking classes given by noted cookery book writer, Giuliano Hazan, will return in the fall. The selection of wines features reds and whites from Italy, but there are also wines from many other countries. They range from $6.99 to over $50 a bottle.

For coffee lovers, the store has Lavazza and Kimbo espresso coffee as well as coffee makers. For your sweet tooth, they have Biscotti, Torrone, Perugina chocolate, Panetone and Panforte.

The friendly, personal service provided and the extensive range of products has made Casa Italia a favorite shopping venue for over 21 years.
